The Quips have played in 3 state championships since they began playing state championships in 1988. They lost to Berwick in the first AAA game at Hershey Stadium 13-0. They defeated Hanover 21-0 at Pittsburgh's South Stadium in the 1991 AA game. The Quips second trip to Hershey Stadium resulted to a 26-6 loss to Mt. Carmel Area in December 2000. Aliquippa made history on December 7, 2003 by playing in the first PIAA championship game to be played on a Sunday in defeating Norhtern Lehigh 32-27 to win their second state championship.
